Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Gloeckelberg 2022

"This Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Gloeckelberg is an exceptional sweet wine.

With its fireworks of aromas, the dense and pulpy balance offers an extraordinary aromatic palette, extravagant, it will make you travel. An unparalleled richness, nuanced by a lively touch of acidity."

Accords mets et vin

This Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Gloeckelberg, thanks to its mellowness, goes perfectly with a colorful and spicy cuisine: a guacamole with cayenne pepper, a chicken tagine with preserved lemons.

A perfect match with a goose foie gras or a dessert.

A deep golden yellow color.
The nose is intoxicating, with candied yellow fruits like quince and mirabelle plum, but also exoticism with pineapple, mango or papaya and passion fruit.

The mouth is mellow, we find the exuberance of the nose, magnified by a fresh vivacity and a very tasty bitterness in the end.

The botrytis is here mastered and especially sublimated.

Comment by Pascal Leonetti, best sommelier of France 2006:

The robe is a deep golden yellow, of beautiful intensity. The disk is brilliant, limpid, transparent. The wine presents youth.  The nose is frank, pleasant, intense, intoxicating, we perceive a dominant of floral scents, rose, and exotic, candied fruits, banana, mango, papaya and passion fruits.

The aeration amplifies these odors and reveals fine touches of citrus, grapefruit and yellow fruits, peach, apricot, as well as spices, ginger. The nose expresses the grape variety in all its superlatives. Deep and elegant, exuberant and intense. The expression is magnified, bewitching.

The attack on the palate is moderately ample, fleshy, mellow. We evolve on a medium with a fresh vivacity, marked by pearls. We find again in mouth the profusion of aromas of the nose. This time, dominated by exoticism, passion fruit, papaya, mango, banana, lychee, we feel the floral touch of rose and also citrus fruits, candied lemon, grapefruit, yellow fruits, apricot, peach skin and spices, ginger. There is a hint of varietal bitterness, very tasty.

The finish has a great length, 9-10 caudalies, as well as a fine vivacity and a persistent bitterness. The dense and pulpy balance offers an extraordinary and extravagant aromatic palette. The botrytis is mastered here and above all sublimated, for our greatest pleasure.

I like to associate it with a colorful cuisine. A guacamole with onion and cayenne pepper, a chicken tagine with preserved lemons and olives, Tex-Mex ribs or a blue-veined cheese, such as Fourme D'Ambert Sélection Fromagerie Lorho.
